Brazilian police begin operating CRIME NABI, a crime prediction system, for surveillance camera operations.

CRIME NABI’s effectiveness in the use of surveillance camera operations was verified with the Belo Horizonte Municipal Police Department in the state of Minas, Brazil. We are pleased to announce that the effectiveness of the system has been evaluated and CRIME NABI is now in operation at the city’s Integrated Operations Center.

■Operation to Begin in December 2023

Singular Perturbations, Inc. and the Belo Horizonte Municipal Police of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, have conducted an effectiveness test of CRIME NABI in surveillance camera operations since the summer of 2023, with the aim of efficiently selecting priority surveillance areas based on crime forecasts and improving operational efficiency.

The state of Minas Gerais is the second largest state in the country with a population of over 20 million, and Belo Horizonte is the state capital with 2.5 million residents. The city of Belo Horizonte is the state capital with 2.5 million inhabitants. It also has the third largest economy in the country and has contributed greatly to Brazil’s economic development. The city is also active in advanced security initiatives, with the city’s Integrated Operations Center, a 50-member municipal police force at all times, and four other organizations, including the fire brigade, working together to provide 24/7 surveillance camera services.

CRIME NABI is equipped with a crime prediction algorithm that utilizes a highly accurate and high-resolution proprietary method to support the creation of a list of cameras for focused surveillance based on crime prediction, thereby contributing to surveillance activities that focus on more critical areas. This is expected to make the surveillance operations of the municipal police corps more effective and enhance their work to ensure the safety of citizens.

As a result of the verification, the accuracy of the crime detection rate targeted by the surveillance camera project was improved. the effectiveness of the system was evaluated from three perspectives: the introduction of CRIME NABI is a measure that could reduce personnel in the future, the business process will be more efficient, and the crime deterrent effect will be increased, and the system was decided to be introduced to the city’s surveillance camera The decision was made to introduce the system to the city’s surveillance camera operations. The Belo Horizonte Municipal Police Department began operating CRIME NABI in its operations in December 2023.
